In fact they are cooler than rayon which is the primary fiber used these days in mass produced clothes. 14. Couture Craftsmanship: I use old world couture sewing techniques that have been used forever. All the seams and edges are finished off with hand sewing or a pretty machine rolled edge ensuring the garment will not only hold up to a long life but it will also look beautiful inside and out!

15. 100% Silk, 100% of the time: I use only the natural fiber of silk without any blends with synthetics. You can see and feel the difference and is more than worth the price differential.

16. Green & Sustainable: As a natural fiber silk is naturally green and sustainable. It is 100% biodegradable. These days most mass produced clothing is made with synthetic fibers which are all petroleum based.  If you put a match to synthetics they melt into plastic. They are not biodegrade! This is not good news for the planet at all. Silk is made by silk worms. They are fed mulberry leaves until it is time for them to make their cocoon so that they can transform into a butterfly. To build this cocoon they ‘pupate' a thin fiber winding it in a figure eight around them until fully enclosed. This fiber is the silk fiber. The end of this silk fiber is found and unwound and several fibers are spun together to make a silk thread that is then used to weave the silk fabric.

17. Silk selection: There are many qualities of silk. I only use the highest quality and the more durable weights.  This greatly increases the life of your garment.

One way I've been able to do this is by selling only directly to the consumer. Other wearable art creators who sell through dealers and galleries as well as directly to consumers must include the dealers' or galleries' mark-up in their own retail prices. If they don't their dealers and galleries will not buy from them. These markups can be anywhere from 25%-50% or more. Because I don't sell to any retailers or through any galleries I am not forced by them to add this mark-up. This allows me to keep the quality up and give you the best price possible. Also, any style made up in natural white silk automatically removes the high cost of hand painting.
